HOW TO GET TO TAIPEI CITY FROM TAOYUAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
There are 3 options for you to get to Taipei City from the Airport: by train (Metro Transit Rail/MTR, by bus or by renting a car.
BY TRAIN or the METRO TRANSIT RAIL
Riding the train is the fastest way to get to the city from the Airport. In Taoyuan International Airport – Taiwan Airport MRT there is Express Train and a Commuter Trains. Operating hours is from 6:00AM up to 11:00PM.
When went to Taiwan, we stayed at Ximending area so to get there, we ride a commuter train for NTD 150 for each person.
We were told to get off at Taipei Main Station where we need to transfer to another lane going to Ximending Station for NTD 20. This way is very convenient and fast compared to cars and riding a bus. Yet it requires more walking for you to transfer to a station to another station. It took us around an hour of travel but it saves us more money.
You may buy an MRT card at the station or you may buy 7 days unlimited card at any 7/11 stores.
The fare for riding a bus is much cheaper for only NTD 125. But it will take you a long time especially if you are residing in an area far from the Airport. Buses leave every 15-20 minutes and they operate 24 hours. To know more details about their schedule, fare and route you may visit HERE.
You may also rent a car if you missed the train or the bus. It costs around NTD 299. RESERVE AIRPORT TRANSFER HERE for a hassle-free journey going to the city.

Being said, we stayed at JOJO XIMENDING. We booked the hotel via booking.com yet you may also book this through Agoda. We booked a space good for a family with 6 members but they gave us a room good for 12 people. The place is really spacious and the beds are very comfortable.
The cons are just hotels in Ximending are and Taipei Main Station is expensive that the other places.
